About Lyndsay

Originally from The New Forest, "which meant I was allowed to get a drum kit as there weren't any neighbours to complain" Lyndsay Studied at Trinity College of Music in London and with the legendary Paul Brodie. Her degree was in a combination of Jazz, Classical and World music - and here she fell in love with all the different styles that shaped her playing later on. Soon after, she found herself on tour on percussion with Ricky Martin and Eros Ramazzotti (60million albums+) as well as playing at London clubs including Ronnie Scott's, The 100 Club and the famous 10 Rooms with artists as diverse as The Black Eyed Peas, Nile Rogers, Wyclef Jean, Amy Winehouse and Guy Barker. She has also toured extensively with Nicola Roberts (Girls Aloud), A Girl Called Eddy, Reverend & The Makers and Sinead Quinn.

Playing 'hybrid kits' - a combination of a traditional drum kit and a percussion or electronic set up, started to become a signature for Lyndsay as she started touring with Cameroonian singer Coco Mbassi, 1940's crossover artist Katy Carr and the techno superstar DJ, Luke Slater. This took her to festivals including Glastonbury, Tommorowland (Belgium), Love Box, Secret Garden Party and Sonar (Spain) as well as the superclubs of Europe, playing regularly to crowds of 30 000.

Back in the UK, she started her own all-girl band, The Mentalists, along side playing for different artists and embarked on more TV work, including with Rihanna, Girls Aloud, Mika, Cher Lloyd, Peter Andre and Robyn on shows including The X Factor, T4, Mobile Act, Blue Peter, CBBC, ITV Saturday night specials and in adverts for Sony and San Miguel.

This lead to her co-presenting the show, Pro Jams, for Disney's XD channel that was shown worldwide. The drum special episode is below, and plays in the house band for other episodes.

Since 2011 Lyndsay has been the on stage drummer with the Australian dance show, Tap Dogs, including a stint in the West End, the world famous Parisian theatre, The Follies Bergere and tours of Asia, Australia and Europe.

While touring with some of the biggest dance acts and DJs in the country, Lyndsay was inspired to start her own project, She Plays Drums, where she could combine her love of playing the drums with curating the music of the night as a DJ.

Unbeknownst to her at the time, Lyndsay was - and still is - the only female DJ in the world combining live percussion with live DJing. She has also played in some of the world's biggest clubs including Hed Kandi, Ministry of Sound, Mahiki, Whiskey Mist. As well as performing as a solo artist, Lyndsay also is often joined on stage by her female collective, featuring electric violin, sax and singers.

In her spare time, Lyndsay loves to cook and last year ended up as a semi finalist on the UK's Masterchef! Feel free to share any recipe ideas with her too!
